Estimated attendance exceeds 100,000 people from near and far, representing all colors of the rainbow! Founded in 1980, the celebration now spans from Belmont to Addison on North Halsted St. in Chicago’s Boystown neighborhood – America’s first recognized gay village. In 2019, the city of Chicago went on to recognize the Boystown rainbow pylons/Legacy Project memorial as a historic landmark, honoring the LGBTQ+ community’s cultural legacy.
