Founded in 1980, the celebration now spans from Belmont to Addison on North Halsted St. in Chicago’s Boystown neighborhood – America’s first recognized gay village. In 2019, the city of Chicago went on to recognize the Boystown rainbow pylons/Legacy Project memorial as a historic landmark, honoring the LGBTQ+ community’s cultural legacy. Northalsted Market Days is easily accessed via the CTA Red Line Addison station at the historic Wrigley Field, CTA Red/Brown/Purple Lines at Belmont, multiple bus lines, and rideshare car/cab services to hotels and other lodging."
