• Description : Mardi Gras actually translates into “Fat Tuesday,” so technically Fat Tuesday IS Mardi Gras. But “Mardi Gras” has come to refer to the whole Festival Season leading up to Fat Tuesday, the day when all the revelry in the month leading up to Lent builds up to a climax in the Quarter. It’s a day full of parades, crazy costumes, dicks getting flashed and sucked on the streets (keep an eye out for the cops though - they’ve been cracking down on this in recent years) and lots of sex going on in the gay clubs.
