The parade and party in celebration of Capital Pride 2019. THE HOST SAYS : "Join the LGBTQ+ community in the historic Dupont and Logan Circle neighborhoods to experience the Capital Pride Parade presented by Marriott International. More than 200 organizations will traverse the 1.5 mile route expressing themselves with floats, vehicles, signs, banners, and entertainment to commemorate our history and support our community, making this one of DCs most favorite and impactful parades. There's no better place to experience the Parade than at the Pride Block Party. Enjoy entertainment, food, and your favorite beverage before, during, and after the Parade. The bar is hosted by our community's very own The Dirty Goose! Those with families can enjoy the Family Area located on Stead Field, in partnership with Rainbow Families and FamilyWorks Together & Adoptions Together. There are also two announcement stands, one located on New Hampshire Ave. and Q St, to include bleacher seating (tickets required), and the other on 14th St just north of P St. Each announcement stand will have MCs announcing the contingents as the march by, and entertainment. Throughout our history, and even up to the present time, there have been forces attempting to silence our voices or erase our community. We must be willing to stand up and speak out against any type of injustice, discrimination, and violence wherever it exists and in whatever form it takes. This is the spirit of our 2019 theme. As we commemorate 50 years since the Stonewall Riots, we must collectively, with Pride, give a “shhhOUT” to our past and present, while committing ourselves to SHOUT OUT proudly as we move forward. * Please note that bags/backpacks will be subject to search, so consider leaving them at home for your convenience."
