Keep an eye out for the latest Grindr sex party scam - Here's what to look for...
Posted By Brad Logan (WGP Admin)     June 27, 2018

It has been brought to our attention that there is an individual or individuals who are contacting men on Grindr and other apps and social media sites saying that they represent "Group Sex City" (as opposed to Group Sex *IN THE* City, which was the former title of this site) and are hosting a sex party in their area. Typically this is followed by an email exchange where the person claiming to represent "Group Sex City" informs the men that in order to attend, they need to become a Gold member of their "orgy sponsor site" with a link to a third party site. (In an example that was sent to us, the site was GCruise.com, a documented scam site.) Men are also told that they will have to go through an STI screening with the host's own doctors and at their own facilities and will be a charged a "Medical Fee" for the screening. There are also other fees they are told to pay in advance as well. In the example sent to us, the "Medical Fee" was $70, the "Costume Fee" (for a masquerade party) was $40 and the "VIP Fee" was $150 for a total of $250. Men are being asked to wire the money to an address in the Philippines since the money from the party is supposedly being donated "to street children." You can read another example of this scam (this version very similar to the recent example we were given but without using "Group Sex City" as a front) that a guy in the UK blogged about back in 2016.

WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR:

The easiest red flag to spot in this scam is the perpetrator asking for a "Medical Fee" for an STD screening that will be performed by the host's own doctors when they arrive at the party. Although many party hosts ask their guests to get tested before they attend their party and many parties offer FREE STD screenings at their parties, we have never heard of any host REQUIRING that the guests have a screening by the host's own doctors and HAVE TO PAY FOR IT IN ADVANCE

Also please note that, although the owner and webmaster of Group Sex in the City / Wicked Gay Parties does host his own parties BEEF, and Men's Den, these parties are hosted for free and there is never any door charge or donation for attending parties hosted by the owner of this site. (Gold and Prime Members of Men's Den and BEEF are given priority on the party guest lists, but you do not have to be a Gold or Prime Member of either group to attend.)

WE CURRENTLY DO NOT HOST ANY PARTIES WHERE YOU ARE ASKED TO PAY AN ENTRANCE FEE IN ADVANCE

Finally we recommend that if you ever pay for a party in advance that you never do so by wiring money. Some parties do offer advanced tickets online but make sure that if you do pay for a ticket in advanced, that it is for a well established party and that it is through the host or hosting company's own website or an established ticket vendor like eventbite or brownpapertickets

If you ever have any questions about whether a party or host is "for real" or not, please do not hesitate to contact us about it.
